Norton Priory Museum & Gardens - the most excavated monastic site in Europe!
Discover 900 years of history through an award-winning museum, an internationally significant 14th century Saint Christopher statue and excavated medieval remains set in 42 acres of managed woodland and gardens. Open throughout the year.
In 2023, Norton Priory joined Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of Organisations for the period 2023-2026.
The stunning Georgian Walled Garden offers orchards, a fruit garden and a beautiful rose walk, open from the beginning of April to the end of October.
An active school visit programme runs throughout term-time, helping to provide hands on learning activities for children and students from the local area and beyond.
We also have a wide-ranging, quality events programme, with activities for visitors of all ages. There are also courses in traditional crafts and cutting edge research undertaken with universities and The Paget’s Association, to deepen understanding of Paget’s Disease of Bone, which has found to be evident in many of the excavated human remains from the medieval period.
The Trust also provides custodian oversight for Halton Castle, on behalf of Halton Borough Council.
