Mark Wilkinson . . . . The finest furniture designer of our time
In 1976 Mark turned his attention to revolutionising domestic furniture. Why should it not be more exciting, more stylish, more innovative? He introduced his ideas in a totally new concept for domestic kitchens and his original design engendered the 'Country Living Style', which has become so distinctive throughout the world.
An example of a design feature, which became important in Mark's early kitchen furniture, is the fishtail frieze introduced in 1978. The frieze depicts the ancient symbol of the fish from the miracle of the loaves and fishes and he designed the arch and cloverleaf motif as a complement to it. These distinctive features have become a vocabulary of good taste, copied throughout the industry.
