The Trentham Estate is the remnants of one of England’s great garden estates, owned for over 400 years until 1979 by the Dukes of Sutherland, who last lived there until c.1910 when Trentham Hall was demolished. The Sutherland family ran the Estate as Trentham Gardens Pleasure Park and Gardens from c.1920 but during the 1970’s and ‘80’s through changes of ownership it went through a period of severe decline. It is very well known throughout the area and further afield and is particularly famous for the large Italian Gardens designed by Sir Charles Barry in the 1830’s. Trentham Leisure Ltd is part of the St. Modwen group.
