The Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank (SCSB) was founded 1915 in Shanghai, China, shortly after the establishment of the Republic of China. SCSB was founded with a Social Mission and its mission is “To serve Society, support Businesses, and promote International Trade”. The bank introduces such innovation such as “One Yuan to open account” to encourage savings, microfinance, inventory financing and other products to help small businesses.
Today SCSB is headquarter in Taipei, with its subsidiary Shanghai Commercial Bank (SCB) headquarter in Hong Kong. In 1999 through a cross equity deal, setup “The Three Shanghai Bank Alliance” which includes SCSB (TW), SCB (HK), and Bank of Shanghai (CN). This platform gives clients in the Greater China Region an one stop service for both consumer and corporate financial services globally.
We employ over 4,000 staff members and operate 130 branches worldwide. In Taiwan alone, we operate 72 branches and employ over 2400 staff, with another 3 branches in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore, and 3 representative offices in Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia. Through SCB, we operate 45 branches in Hong Kong and 7 branches overseas (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, London, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles). In 2018, SCSB added AMK Microfinance Institution of Cambodia to its group.
AMK is one of the largest MFI in Cambodia and throughout its history, its commitment to social performance has been absolute. As of December 2019, about 3,000 staffs and 5,000 agents, serve over 1million clients in 13,000 villages across Cambodia. This outreach represents 93% of all villages.
