Gyanada Foundation was started in the year 2013 with a mission to provide better access to schooling opportunities for girls who came from low-income backgrounds- most of them first-generation learners- we believed that we could create a platform that ensures the beneficiaries have better opportunities in life. Since we have supported more than 100 girls in Kolkata, Ranchi, Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune to access better schooling opportunities through the Gyanada Scholars Program However, as the program progressed we assessed that access alone cannot provide holistic educational opportunities that help the underprivileged children maximize their potential. With this understanding, we conceptualized Gyanada Labs with the objective of developing and empowering our enablers, creators and problem solvers of the next generation. Every child processes learning and information based on their social, economic, mental and emotional abilities. Therefore, Gyanada Lab works on the premise that by maximizing learning, observation, and experimentation which is child-centric, practical and beyond the classroom, we are creating value for the coming decades in the life of the child, the community, and the country. Art and technology fuels young minds in capacities that drive creativity and application. The Gyanada Labs intervention interweaves art and technology based on the cognition and prevalent socio-economic conditions of the children from the age 7 to 16 years. The Binary Story is a program designed and deployed in schools to introduce school kids, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, to Computer Science (CS) and its three component domains: Computational Thinking, Coding and Leadership and Creativity in order to develop the attributes of real-world problem-solving, creativity and teamwork skills in the students.
