Matt started his career as a young chef at Simpsons in 2000, which is where he worked for a straight 16 years; rising to the position of Head Chef. Matt oversaw a period in which Simpsons Restaurant consolidated its Michelin star and was named in the Sunday Times list of Top 30 Restaurants (placed 28th). Aside from running a brigade of fourteen, Cheal also took responsibility for running the cookery school at Simpsons.
After sixteen years at Simpsons, Matt decided to embark on a new challenge, opening his own restaurant with his father, Cheal's of Henley. At the very heart of everything we do is our team. We are blessed to have loyal hospitality professionals who continually strive to develop themselves and improve the guest experience at Cheal’s.

A cosy yet chic interior and medley of innovative cocktails await at Warren’s Bar. Named in memory of our lost friend Warren Robinson, our bar also serves an elevated selection of bar bites. Perfect for celebrations, after-work tipples or an indulgent nightcap.
Cheal’s restaurant is located in the picturesque Knowle High Street, close to Solihull and a 2 minute drive from junction 5 of the M42. We are open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch & dinner.
