The Recreation and Parks Department of the City of Bakersfield, California serves the citizens of Bakersfield and surrounding areas of approximately 340,000. Currently, there are 55 parks, a 32-mile paved parkway along the Kern River, two community centers and one-year round outdoor pool. The fulltime staff of 150 also maintains the city's 137 miles of streetscapes.
