The University of Alabama's Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is a leading pre-professional organization for students interested in public relations, communications and related fields.
Since its establishment in 1970 as the Arlyn S. Powell Chapter, UA PRSSA has had the mission of enhancing members' knowledge of public relations, providing access to professional development opportunities, and serving the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.
UA PRSSA strives to provide an enriching experience for its members by encouraging them to join committees, apply for national scholarships, attend regional and national conferences, and seek out mentorship opportunities and career advice. UA PRSSA members are also encouraged to apply to Capstone Agency, UA's nationally affiliated student-run firm.
At the 2018 PRSSA National Conference in Austin, Texas, UA PRSSA was named a Star Chapter and received the Dr. F. H. Teahan Award for Best PRSA/PRSSA Relationship. Capstone Agency received the Dr. F. H. Teahan Award for Top Student-Run Firm.
