Lititz Mutual Insurance Company was founded on May 1, 1888 when twenty-five citizens met in Lititz, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of organizing a Mutual Fire Insurance Company. These same citizens met again on May 22, 1888 and decided to adopt By-Laws of thrift, integrity and full measure for value received. All of these By-Laws were dedicated to their heritage of Pennsylvania Dutch tradition. Many of these By-Laws have never been changed and are just as applicable today as they were in the 1800s.
Today, Lititz Mutual has grown to include three other companies; Farmers & Mechanics, Penn Charter, and Livingston Mutual to become the Lititz Mutual Group of Insurers. The company has also grown from its original fire insurance to now cover homes, small businesses, churches, and farms across nine states.
Lititz Mutual is committed to their policyholders and prove that by providing a prompt and fair claims process as well as having a solvent underwriting department. With excellent investment results based on the By-Laws of thrift, integrity, and full measure for value, Lititz Mutual has gained deserved recognition. Since 1932, Lititz Mutual has been recognized by AM Best as an ‘A’ (Excellent) or higher. This award proves Lititz Mutual’s exceptional ability and commitment to provide its policyholders with solid financial security.
Lititz Mutual continues to provide comprehensive property and casualty insurance with the original By-Laws leading the way. With 130 years of exceptional service, Lititz Mutual continues to offer insurance products with their policyholders in mind.
