The Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) program pairs talented, diverse technologists and innovators with top federal change-makers to catalyze a modern government for all.
PIF does this by uniting industry’s best technologists, designers, and strategists with federal leaders to co-create bold solutions for public good. Hand-in-hand with federal agency partners, we identify impactful innovation projects of critical agency and/or national priority. Our team annually recruits outstanding private-sector talent into our program - a tech job unlike any other.
PIF embeds our fellows within agencies as yearlong entrepreneurs in residence. With our agency partners, our fellows advise, prototype, and scale solutions using industry best practices across data science, design, engineering, product, and systems thinking. Our fellows serve as both strategic advisors and practitioners who build, test, and ship solutions.
As of March 2022, PIF has recruited 200+ fellows who have worked in more than 40 agencies to advance government innovation and deliver stronger public services for hundreds of millions of Americans. The program, which was started by the White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) in 2012, has been housed at GSA since 2013.
