The National Telehealth Center under the University of the Philippines Manila – National Institutes of Health values engaging people to identify problems in the health care system. We introduce community-defined Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions for health - using mobile phones, computers, and the internet. We innovate to make health care more universally available, and especially accessible to isolated and disadvantaged communities.
We build capacities in health information management and governance; we get frontline health workers excited, and maimally use available ICTs for health. We value the Free and Open Source Software philosophy: share tools that communities can use for their own development. Through community-engaged research, we help define what works and what does not in the use of information management tools. We mainstream these lessons by advocating concrete policies.
