3 countries. 15 cities. 40+ competitions. Thousands of students. Countless possibilities.
The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST) is a fun, educational, interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards bringing high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, communication, and other creative skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims.
MIST consists of annual Regional Tournaments that take place in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Florida, Philadelphia, New York City, Houston, Northern & Southern California, New Jersey, Richmond, Nashville and TORONTO. The winners from each Regional Tournament qualify to complete at the annual National Tournament. The tournaments last two-three days, ending with the Awards Ceremony on the final night. MIST currently features over 35 different competitions.
Established in 2008 by Hamza Moin, MIST Toronto was the first MIST region to be established outside the United States. In just four years, MIST Toronto not only became the largest MIST region, but also the biggest Muslim high school event in North America. Starting out with just 80 high school students, today MIST has grown to accommodate over 850 high school students from across Ontario.
We are dedicated to empowering high school students by giving them a venue to develop confidence and professionalism, to meet and network with diverse peers who share the same talents and interests, to express their thoughts and ideas through various creative mediums and to learn strategies to deal with stereotypes and prejudices against Islam and Muslims.
