The goal of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI & RC) is to create the world’s biggest Urology, Nephrology, Hepatology and the Transplant Center that will consist of 800 beds extendable up to 1500 beds, following the highest international standards of ethical and professional practices. The hospital will provide free-of-cost treatment to the rich and poor alike with state of the art clinical care, irrespective of race, religion, color and social status. 50 acres of land in the Lahore Knowledge City has already been allocated by the Government of Punjab. The project will cost billions of Rupees and the larger cost of this project will be borne by the Gov of Punjab in the construction phase. The hospital is in its construction phase and the first phase of 200 beds is scheduled to be completed in year 2017. The ground breaking ceremony of the hospital was performed by on 14th of August, 2015 by Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Shareef, CM Punjab. PKLI will provide state of the art education and training using structured training programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It will also provide internationally recognized training of nurses and paramedics through a modern nursing school followed by a medical school and a university. Cutting edge research will be performed that can put the name of Pakistan on the international map with highest prestige in the field of research.
