JEEVlKA is India’s largest state level women’s socio-economic empowerment program, working directly with 1.30 crore families in rural Bihar and is one of the flagship programs for poverty alleviation of the Govt. of Bihar. The program entails promotion of a three-tier community architecture with “Self-Help Group” as the primary, “Village Organisation” as secondary and “Cluster-Level Federations” at the tertiary level institutions.
An autonomous body started in 2007, under the Department of Rural Development, Government of Bihar has been designated as the State Rural Livelihoods Mission under the Framework of National Rural Livelihoods Mission to scale up the poverty alleviation program in Bihar.
