EDRLab is a non-profit development laboratory – built as an association - working on the deployment of an open, interoperable, and accessible digital publishing ecosystem, at the confluence of publishing and the Web. It is a key element in the creation of a strong e-book market in Europe and elsewhere.
EDRLab is a "safe place" in which different companies and non-profit organizations can collaborate towards common objectives with the support of a dedicated team of engineers.
Our main areas of work are open-source reading toolkits and applications (Readium, Thorium Reader), the development and operation of the LCP DRM, open standards (EPUB 3.3, Audiobooks) and accessibility.
Founder members of EDRLab are: Editis, Hachette, Madrigall, Media Participations, Syndicat National de l’édition, Cercle de la Librarie, Centre National du livre, Cap Digital, the French Ministry of Culture and the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.
EDRLab is located inside Cap Digital offices. Cap Digital is the French business cluster for digital content and services.
