The British School Jakarta (BSJ) traces its roots back to 1974, initially supported by The British Embassy to serve the needs of internationally mobile students in Jakarta. With support from British businessmen, BSJ officially became a foundation in 1976, operating in Permata Hijau.
In 1994, BSJ moved to a purpose-built 45-acre campus in Bintaro, Tangerang Selatan, South West Jakarta. This campus offers exceptional education with a unique teaching approach and state-of-the-art facilities, including a 750-seater theatre, sports facilities like football fields, badminton and basketball courts, tennis courts, a gym, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. BSJ also provides science and computer labs, as well as musical and language centres.
BSJ's curriculum fosters a love of learning beginning with the English National Curriculum and an inquiry-based learning model in the Primary School then transitioning seamlessly into the International Baccalaureate programmes for Secondary School.
With a diverse community of over 1,400 students representing more than 50 countries, BSJ encourages individualised learning through inquiry-based, active, and dynamic education, preparing students for future success. BSJ also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities spanning sports, arts, and STEM, allowing students to participate in local and regional competitions organised by FOBISIA and SEASAC.
BSJ students have gained admission to prestigious universities worldwide including institutions in the UK, US, Singapore, and Australia, among others.
The British School Jakarta has a longstanding commitment to delivering exceptional education, nurturing a passion for learning, and equipping students for success in esteemed universities around the globe.
