We are Alexander Schleicher GmbH & Co., a medium-sized family-owned business located in Poppenhausen, at the foot of the Wasserkuppe. Our company is now led by the grandchildren of the founder, Alexander Schleicher - Peter and Ulrich Kremer, in its third generation. We produce 50 to 60 sailplanes and motor gliders annually, which are flown by many enthusiastic pilots worldwide. Among sailplane manufacturers, with approximately 110 employees and our founding in 1927, we are the oldest and one of the largest companies. The abbreviation AS stands more than ever for aircraft of the highest craftsmanship quality. Constant research and development ensure sailplanes that are up to date with the latest aerodynamics and safety technology. Our AS 34 Me is the first electric self-launching sailplane with an 18m wingspan to be certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency in 2022. One of our top-performing aircraft is the ASK 21 as a training two-seater, which has been in production since 1979 and was delivered for the 1000th time last year. The in-house production of all components means maximum flexibility and comprehensive control over manufacturing quality. From design, prototyping and mold-making to manufacturing and quality control, everything is done in-house. Our commitment goes beyond manufacturing - we also offer maintenance, repairs, and airworthiness inspections to ensure that our products remain reliable and high-performing.
