The Portuguese Filmmuseum is a public institution based in Lisbon since its birth in 1948, dedicated to the diffusion of the cinematographic art and to the preservation and restoration of the films and archives within its collections, which is fulfiled in its Department of national archive of moving images. The Portuguese Filmmuseum develops an important programming activity of major classics as well as complete author and thematic retrospectives and tributes to filmmakers, actors, personalities or periods and genres of the history of film. It also organises temporary exhibitions, educational and cultural activities, and holds a library. In the headquarters facilities there's a bookstore and a restaurant / bar.
