Hospital Center of Cova da Beira (CHCB) is a reference institution in the provision of healthcare excellence to people residing in the municipalities of Covilha, Fundão, Belmonte and Penamacor.
Its mission is to provide health care with efficiency, quality, timely and socially affordable cost to the population of its catchment area, and all citizens in general; develop high quality teaching as the Nuclear Hospital for Health Sciences Faculty of the University of Beira Interior (Protocol 11/2001 published in the Official Gazette, Series II from April 16, 2006), and participate in pre and postgraduated education in collaboration with Nursing Schools and Colleges of Health Technology, providing an education of excellence in various areas of health care.
Hospital Center of Cova da Beira has, since March 29, 2010, certification by the Joint Commission International (JCI), having been the 3rd health institution in Portugal to be accredited. This international certificate is a guarantee of the high quality recognition and prestige.
