The Hamilton Police Service provides policing to over 540,000 residents in the City of Hamilton. In 2017, HPS responded to over 138,800 calls for assistance from our community. We have over 1,240 employees, and our mission is to serve and protect in partnership with our communities.

SWORN OPPORTUNITIES: We regularly hire Police Constable - New Recruits for one of three intakes per year, due to attrition. We also hire Police Constable - Lateral Transfers for those Police Constables looking to make a move to the Hamilton Police Service.
CIVILIAN OPPORTUNITIES: From administrative land technical jobs to positions in management, the Hamilton Police Service has many challenging civilian career opportunities, with top-notch salaries and benefit packages. We currently employ more than 360 civilian members – about 35 per cent of our workforce. We also hire Police Cadets for those looking to gain policing work experience, and to eventually become Police Constables with the Hamilton Police Service.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Opportunities are available in Crime Prevention and Victim Services, and as Auxiliary Officers. If you are interested in becoming an Auxiliary Officer, you must first become a Crime Prevention Volunteer.
