The National Saturday Club enables 13–16 years olds from across the UK to discover their strengths and develop new skills by attending free Saturday Clubs at their local college, university or cultural institution. Attended by Club members across the academic year and offered in a range of subject areas – Art&Design, Science&Engineering, Fashion&Business or Writing&Talking – Saturday Club programmes are devised by professional tutors, assisted by students. As part of their annual programme, Club members also attend Masterclasses with leading industry professionals in their subject area, take part in a cultural visit to London, and show their work at a major public exhibition held at Somerset House, London.
The Saturday Club Trust is an independent charity set up in 2016 to take over the development of the National Saturday Club from The Sorrell Foundation, which launched the National Art&Design Saturday Club in 2009. The Sorrell Foundation was co-founded as an educational charity in 1999 by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Lady Sorrell OBE, with the aim of inspiring creativity in young people and improving quality of life through good design.
