The California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) is a state-funded nonprofit that works to smooth the path to college and career for all California students, especially those who have been underrepresented in higher education, through its management of CaliforniaColleges.edu, the State of California’s official college and career planning platform.
CaliforniaColleges.edu is a critical component of the CaliforniaCradle-to-Career Data System’s tools for students and parents. The platform, which is managed by CCGI, empowers over half of all California 6th-12th grade students through actionable data that can be used to make an immediate, tangible impact on their college and career trajectories.
Through CaliforniaColleges.edu, CCGI offers a unique suite of college, career, and financial aid planning information, curricula, and tools. From exploring potential career paths to launching and tracking college and financial aid applications, CaliforniaColleges.edu helps students discover their college and career goals and plan how to achieve them. CaliforniaColleges.edu also automates time-consuming tasks for counselors and educators.
CCGI staff work hand in hand with our Partner Districts to identify transcript data misalignment, improve transcript data in their student information system, implement clear transcript data standards and best practices, and integrate helpful tools into guidance practices and instructional time. By providing ongoing support and training opportunities, we help ensure that improvements are sustainable so that the benefits are felt for years to come.
