FCS serves San Francisco’s most vulnerable and impoverished communities, primarily Bayview Hunters Point, Visitacion Valley and the Western Addition. Ninety-five percent of our clients are classified “very low” income (12.5% earn below $10,000, 29% earn between $10,000 and $20,000, 58.5% earn between $20,000 and $30,000 for family of four). These clients’ average income is 27% lower than other neighborhoods in the city. Our menu of vital services includes nationally-accredited, subsidized child care for infants and toddlers; youth empowerment and pregnancy prevention for teens; job training and placement for adults; and mentorship to home- and center-based child care providers. These four basic programs help us fulfill our mission of ending poverty one family at a time.
