Goethe University Frankfurt is a research-oriented university in the European financial center Frankfurt am Main. The university was founded in 1914 through private funding, primarily from Jewish sponsors, and has since produced pioneering achievements in the areas of social sciences, sociology and economics, medicine, quantum physics, brain research, and labor law.
With more than 43,000 students, Goethe University is one of the largest universities in Germany. 154 degree programs are available for students to choose from. A total of 580 professors and 2,261 research assistants teach and conduct research at Goethe University. Together with the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Goethe University Frankfurt is a partner in the Strategic Alliance of Rhine-Main-Universities.
