Originally founded by the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in 1999, the BioPark brings together a unique ecosystem of scientific, clinical and business expertise with world class facilities to create a perfect environment for drug research and development and across the broader life sciences space. The BioPark looks to support company growth from innovative start-ups through to global players in life sciences, providing services throughout a company’s life from inception through to providing ‘soft-landing’ support for international companies seeking a base in the heart of Europe.
Located in Charleroi, close to Brussels and international travel connections, the BioPark is already home to more than 3300 highly skilled people from over 60 countries, 106 life sciences companies and three world-class research institutes. Companies in the BioPark are able to draw on one of Europe’s best developed financial ecosystems with access to capital from seed, via specialist venture capitalists and private equity through to the public equity markets combined with access to non-dilutive funding through national and regional grants.
