Mustangs For Hope is a nonprofit organization that provides free, virtual, one-on-one tutoring to K-12th grade children in West and South Dallas who were negatively impacted by COVID-19 school and after-school program closures. In September 2020, Southern Methodist University senior Avery Mercurio founded MFH to give struggling Dallas students an opportunity to work weekly with college mentors. Her goal was to foster community between young learners and college students to encourage children's academic and personal success through the transformative power of consistent and positive mentorship. To date, Mustangs For Hope tutors over 110 students with the help of over 100 SMU undergraduate students.
