INGENIO was created in 1999 as a joint Institute of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research [CSIC] and the Polytechnic University of Valencia [UPV]. It carries out high-quality research in the field of innovation studies, focusing on the analysis and design of innovation policies, the study of innovation determinants and patterns, and the processes of knowledge exchange across institutional boundaries.
INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) is the leading Spanish centre in its field. In addition to its research activities, it is actively involved in postgraduate and professional teaching programmes, mainly in Spain and Latin America.
INGENIO's activities are international in scope. Its researchers participate in several Framework Programme initiatives, and have established collaborative links with universities and research centres in Europe, America, and Australasia. INGENIO is an active contributor to the EU-SPRI Forum (European Forum for Studies of Policies for Research and Innovation), which brings together the main European centres working on policy and governance issues in the field of knowledge creation and innovation.
