Since 1975, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been active in Morocco on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supports its Moroccan partners in promoting sustainable development. GIZ is also increasingly working for other clients such as the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AA), the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi), the European Union and Moroccan companies.
On behalf of BMZ, GIZ is involved in sustainable economic development, integrated water resources management, renewable energy and energy efficiency. GIZ also implements projects in the fields of environment and climate as well as good governance, decentralization and migration.
The GIZ office has been located in Rabat since 1999. It currently has more than 228 national and 46 international staff serving in the country.
