Founded in Australia by Hungarian immigrants Louis and Alice Kennedy in 1958, Glomesh celebrated life, freedom and disco fever. Worn by a who’s who of Australian and International celebrities in their day, Glomesh was the first Australian IT bag and brand.
The original Glomesh factory was first set up in Bondi, located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Production later moved to a much larger facility in St Peters in Sydney’s inner west where the beautiful iconic metal mesh was being produced in stunning golds, silvers and vibrant rich enamel colours.
The most notable products created from the glamorous trademark mesh were handbags, purses, clutches, cigarette holders, lighters and make-up compacts.
Glomesh quickly became the “must have” brand in the Australian fashion and accessories market, creating its very own sub-culture and household name status. To this day, Glomesh remains a staple in Australia’s fashion heritage.
