Shame Movement is a prominent civil movement based in Georgia that was founded in June 2019. With a mission to promote Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and advocate for democratic reforms, the movement operates with a focus on non-violent activism and has grown from its humble beginnings of 15 founding members to an organization boasting more than 200 activists across the country.
Over the past three years, the Shame Movement has organized numerous mass demonstrations and awareness-raising campaigns aimed at influencing public policy and inspiring the younger generation to participate in the political process. These efforts have led to significant progress, including judicial and electoral amendments. The movement’s financial stability is ensured by contributions from the Open Society Georgia Foundation and long-term support from The European Endowment for Democracy and the National Endowment for Democracy.
In order to reach a wider audience, Shame Movement has a strong online presence with a monthly reach of 600,000 unique users via its Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok channels. With the support of its partners and an unwavering commitment to its cause, Shame Movement continues to drive positive change and promote a more democratic and just society in Georgia.
