The Bavarian International School gAG (BIS) is a non-profit organization with two campus locations in Haimhausen and Munich-City in Leopoldstraße. Up to 1,200 children and adolescents from more than 60 nations between the ages of 3 and 19 attend the all-day IB World School, including kindergarten. As one of only two international schools in Germany, BIS offers all four IB programs: Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), Diploma Program (DP) and Career-related Program (CP). The IB DP average result of 37 in 2021 illustrates the academic excellence of BIS (equivalent to Abitur grade 1.8 / worldwide average 33).
240 employees work at BIS, including 170 teachers - the teacher-pupil ratio with 7.5:1 underlines the focus on the individual development of each child under the motto "Believe.Inspire.Succeed ".
75% of the students come from international families of globally mobile professionals and executives (expats) working for companies such as Eurofighter, BMW, Airbus, Linde or Samsung. Not least because of this, the Bavarian International School is a system-relevant factor for business development and location marketing in the wider Munich area.
