For the last decade, Austin Music People has advocated for the music industry at large to ensure that the Austin music ecosystem is healthy. In recent months, our organization has gone through a rebranding to narrow and focus our mission to specifically empower and advocate for the Austin Event community, in service of Austin’s broader creative culture. In the past, our broad mission cast a wide net focusing on lobbying for music businesses, music venues, musicians and fans. AMP was being stretched too thin and could not effectively advocate on behalf of everyone who needed our assistance and advocacy, and as a result, AMP was at a crossroads. In 2017, we refocused our efforts and are now focusing on issues associated with festivals and events. Our goals for AMP is to advocate for a streamlined, efficient, and comprehensive City process - from permitting to enforcement. We would like to be a resource for events of all sizes to navigate the city process and help provide best practices for events and the value of events.
