Always local in focus and based in personal relationship, Haley House has grown organically in response to the harsh realities of social inequality and injustice. We remain committed to the important work of nurturing community which inspires and supports lasting personal and societal transformation. Never abandoning our deep roots as a house of hospitality, Haley House today addresses basic human needs through four interconnected branches.
• Direct Services: Our soup kitchen, food pantry, elder meal, and clothing room in the South End is run entirely by residential volunteer staff. We serve over 24,000 meals a year in the soup kitchen and distribute over 65,000 meals a year through the food pantry.
• Housing: Over 100 units of permanent, affordable housing scattered throughout our South End neighborhood make up our housing program.
• Urban Farming: We have formed community and school-based garden partnerships that aim to encourage healthy lifestyles, build community, and contribute to healthy and local food access.
• Social Enterprise: Haley House Bakery Café offers healthful, organic, affordable fare in the heart of Roxbury’s Dudley Square with extensive community-initiated programming, including our Transitional Employment Program for those exiting incarceration, our Take Back the Kitchen youth cooking classes, our pay-what-you-can Community Tables dinners, and a variety of arts & cultural programming. And our newest venture, Dudley Dough, is an artisanal pizza shop serving up great food and economic justice for workers. Come visit us soon!
