Ann and Richard Hopwood founded the Hopwood Nursery School in 1968 and the Hopwood Summer Day Camp in 1981. Hopwood's school curriculum is based on the High Scope Curriculum. The High Scope approach emphasizes the "active learner" and incorporates five basic elements of sound developmental practices for children and effective program management strategies for adults.
