Coast 4C is building the world's largest supply chain for regenerative seaweed to benefit the 4Cs of Community, Conservation, Commerce & Climate. C4C is a winner of the World Economic Forum - UpLink Blue Food Challenge, and the Island Innovation Awards Blue Economy Award (2022). Featured in World Economic Forum film and a RE:TV (part of the Sustainable Markets Initiative) film on regenerative aquaculture. Our regenerative seaweed is traceable at source, supports community self-sufficiency, and addresses environmental conservation and the future of food security. Coast 4C is a social enterprise with hybrid structure to deliver lasting impact. Impact to date includes: - more than 150 families supported to implement regenerative seaweed farming practices; - 5,766 hectares of the ocean protected in 8 prototype community-based "iMPAs" (up from national average of 16 ha) that integrate and are supported by sustainable seaweed (protecting 17% of targeted bayscape waters); - 267,000,000 km of end-of-life fishing nets diverted from the ocean for recycling; - provided equitable access to financial services for 2,015 families in 40 marginalised coastal communities in the Philippines; - replication of many elements of our model into Cameroon, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand. We are scaling up the number of households engaging in regenerative seaweed farming linked to iMPAs and our seaweed value chain to supply responsible global brands and create an ocean with more fish and less plastic. We are restoring the potential of regenerative seaweed farming by working with partners to develop new strains and sustainable methods that are resilient to climate change and reduce plastic pollution, and to innovate new processing techniques to access new markets. Our vision is to empower 22 million small-scale fishers to deliver thriving coastal communities and a healthy ocean. You can also follow us on twitter and facebook @coast4c
