Standard Distributors Limited was built on the foundation of integrity and honesty, and its principal of “no transaction is good unless it is good to all parties involved” remains true today.
Established in Trinidad by Dr. Anthony N Sabga on July 27, 1945, Standard is one of the leading companies for furniture, retail home appliance and electronics.
Expanding its business, Standard Distributors travelled to Barbados and began operations in September 1959 as a partnership with Da Costa Limited, a subsidiary of Barbados Shipping & Trading Company Limited. In 1967, the ANSA Group acquired the fifty percent owned by BS&T and assumed full management of the company.
Standard Distributors Limited, with its eleven strategic locations in Trinidad & Tobago and two in Barbados, continues to uphold its reputation of “Never Beaten on Quality” with world renowned brands and service.
Bell Furniture Industries Ltd. was developed as a furniture company with exclusive rights to Standard Distributors and was incorporated in 1973 and registered under Trinidad & Tobago laws. Using local labour and a high proportion of local wood and other raw materials, Bell Furniture has built a reputation as a brand that lasts from generation to generation. This high grade furniture is now distributed to other Caribbean markets.
Standard Distributors Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados, and Bell Furniture Industries were fully owned companies of the ANSA Group of Companies and on February 01, 2012 they were acquired by the ANSA McAL Group of Companies where the tradition of “Never Beaten on Quality” lives on.
