3 St James’ Hall Chambers was established in 1997, by a group of young barristers under the leadership of Ian Temby AO QC.
The Floor’s 22 barristers enjoy a strong reputation in commercial, corporations, insolvency, building and construction law, inquiries, crime and public law. A number of former members have been appointed to judicial office.
Now falling within a range of different levels of seniority, our barristers regularly appear in all appellate jurisdictions and in a number of different courts and tribunals.
Our barristers deliver outstanding advocacy and legal advice of the highest standard in their respective fields. They do so on instructions from law firms, both large and small, from all parts of Australia as well as both state and commonwealth instrumentalities. A number of our barristers also accept instructions from in-house counsel. Members of the floor provide a service that is comprehensive, skilled, strategic and expeditious. At the same time, we strive to be both approachable and practical.
Like all members of the New South Wales Bar, each of our members practices on his or her own account. All are bound by the provisions of the Legal Profession Act and the NSW Barristers' Rules, which impose strict professional and ethical obligations. Our members share a strong collegiate spirit which enables and promotes a sharing of experience and resources within the range of specialties practiced on the floor.
