Phu My 3 BOT Power Co. Ltd. is the first foreign-invested BOT (Built-Operate-Transfer) Power Project in Vietnam. The US$ 450 million power plant, equally invested by BP Holdings B.V. (Netherlands), Sembcorp Utilities Corp. (Singapore), Kyushu Electrics Corp. and Sojitz Corp. (Japan), uses combined cycle gas turbine technology with designed capacity of 716.8 MW. The capacity was upgraded to 749 MW after the gas turbine upgrade in 2009. Based in Phu My 1 Industrial Zone – Tan Thanh District – Ba Ria Vung Tau province, Phu My 3 Power Plant is constructed by Siemens AG (Germany) and fueled by Nam Con Son Gas Pipelines, an affiliate of BP Vietnam. Since its commercial operation in Jan 2004, Phu My 3 Power Plant has supplied about 7% of the whole nationwide power generation in Vietnam under the Power Purchase Agreement with Vietnam Electricity Corp. (EVN).
