Just a three hour drive south west of Brisbane, you’ll find the picturesque region of Tenterfield situated in the New England High Country area of Northern New South Wales. It’s about the same distance inland from the Byron Bay area, so if you’re seeking a break from the coast – experience the magic of a scenic drive to the countryside.
On the weekend, we waved goodbye to another summer and welcomed autumn – a favourite seasonal time for many. We’ve already started to notice a slight drop in the temperature and are enjoying misty mornings, clear sky days and pretty afternoon skies. There’s something so magical about this time of the year in country New South Wales.
Many parts of the Tenterfield region recently received much welcomed downpours of rain, following prolonged periods of drought and bush fires. We’ve since begun to see our creek and river systems flowing again and our national parks, grass, trees and gardens are awakening with a sense of rejuvenation.
Over the coming months, Mother Nature will present a magnificent showcase of colourful perennial beauty across the Tenterfield region and everyone’s invited! Right now, she’s enjoying parading hues of green and blue across the region. And when it’s time for a costume change, we’ll be dazzled by her display of this season’s outfits ranging in tones from rich gold to deep red.
Discover the warm inviting nature of Tenterfield and its regional villages when you pay a visit to Jennings, Liston, Legume, Drake, Urbenville, Torrington, Bolivia, and Mingoola. Along your journey, take advantage of hearty country pubs, scenic picnic spots, an abundance of National Parks and significant historical sites.
Cocooned by rugged national parks, the region is a wonderland for nature-lovers and adventurers alike with many locations offering opportunities for visitors to experience bushwalking, birdwatching, camping, 4WDriving, bike riding, and horse riding, restaurants and vineyards.
