Small Woods are a national charitable organisation that stands for sustainable woods, alive with people, wildlife and work. Over half of the UK’s small woodlands are neglected, overlooked and undervalued. Therefore our vision is to see small woodlands valued for the many benefits they bring to a sustainable society, helping to achieve their better management to make the most of those benefits.
We provide support and advice to the hands-on woodland owner, manager and enthusiast. Training a new generation of people to work in small woodlands through our apprenticeships and courses. We deliver woodland-related projects that promote woodland management, coppice restoration, social forestry, health & wellbeing in woodlands and community woodland support. Undertaking research to improve the understanding, awareness and sustainability of small woodlands. Small Woods is the organisation for everyone who is involved in hands-on management of small woodlands, whether as owners, managers, volunteers, woodland and coppice workers or community woodland members.
