The Germantown Jewish Centre has been the heart of the Jewish community in Northwest Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs for almost 70 years. We are a vibrant, pluralistic and egalitarian synagogue located in Mount Airy and committed to sustaining and strengthening Jewish life in greater Philadelphia. The Germantown Jewish Centre was recognized in April 2009 by NEWSWEEK magazine as one of America's "25 Most Vibrant Congregations," the only synagogue so recognized in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. The honor was based on an assessment of GJC's community engagement, growth, outreach, diversity of program, innovation, dynamism and rabbinic leadership. Specifically, GJC was cited as "a model for pluralistic and egalitarian worship and community."
