Online returns are broken.
There are ~£99bn worth of returns processed each year in the UK alone (~$761 in the US). It’s common for merchants to be grappling with return rates over 30%. Yet the customer experience for returning an unwanted purchase is fragmented, time-consuming and built on legacy infrastructure.
For the average online shopper, completing a return takes approximately 40 mins, they have 10 different fields to complete and are switching context 3 or more times. In particularly bad cases this involves a long walk, queuing during peak times and facing the elements. After posting their return they are waiting 7+days to receive a refund.
