With community residents leading the way, the mission of CHLDC is to build a strong, equitable East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure and preserve affordable housing, and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community. We actively promote policies that advance racial equity.
Annually, we work with more than 8,000 residents through a comprehensive range of programs. These include: affordable housing development; foreclosure prevention, first-time homebuyer and tenant counseling; community organizing for youth and adults; afterschool and other youth development programs; career readiness training and counseling; college access and persistence counseling; ESL and GED classes; and more.
