By The Hand is a Christ-centered, after-school program that emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the whole child—mind, body and soul. Strategically located in Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods, By The Hand is currently serving over 1,600 kids in critical need across the city. By The Hand has after-school program locations in Altgeld-Murray, Austin, Cabrini-Green, Englewood and is currently building a sixth site in North Austin. We partner with 17 Chicago Public Schools. Children are recommended by local principals who are failing in reading. In the 2019 school year, 1,523 kids were enrolled with an overall average of 3.04 GPA.
