The UTSA SBDC International Trade Center is one of the most successful trade assistance organizations in the State of Texas. Established in 1992 with the premise that our success is measured by our client's results, the Center has a proven track record of delivering technical know-how and support that has helped hundreds of Texas companies enter new markets, create more efficient supply chains, and become globally competitive. The Center is part of the National 1,100-Small Business Development Center Network and is hosted at the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2023, the efforts of the Center helped its clients create 512 jobs; increase $549 million in global sales; secure $38 million in new financing; enter 25 new markets; and facilitate $19 million in foreign-direct-investment in Texas The Texas International Business Accelerator (TIBA), a program created in 2011 as an initiative of the UTSA SBDC International Trade Center assists foreign small companies and investors that are planning to start or expand operations in the State of Texas. The TIBA program has been catalyzing economic impact for the last decade and has contributed to the creation of over 2,220 jobs and over $308 million in foreign direct investment in the State of Texas by assisting clients from 35 different countries in Central America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Through the UTSA Center for Global Development program, and with the support of the U.S. Department of State and the UTSA Institute for Economic Development, the Center has advised and trained 7,310 MSME stakeholders in 23 countries. Through this assistance, 253 SBDCs have been launched and 1,490 professionals are providing SBDC assistance throughout the Americas. This experience, in combination with 30-plus years of knowledge in operating a world-class SBDC network, allows the UTSA Center for Global Development to offer valuable assistance to countries adopting the SBDC model.
