Ships Classification (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (SCM) is the national premier classification society providing vessel classifications for maritime industry. SCM is made of 70% technical personnel and professionals consist of Naval Architects, Marine Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Graduate Engineers and Master Foreign Going.
The surveys of ships classed under SCM are in accordance with SCM's Classification Rules (KELASRules) as well as regulations established by International Conventions, and are consistent with the standards of other International Classification Societies (IACS).
The business services provided by SCM are not limited to the followings, and efforts are being made for SCM to be involved in non-classification services which include consultancy, supervision and third-party inspection.
* Review & approval of ship’s plans/documents against Class Rules, International Conventions and National requirements.
* Conducting Class and Statutory surveys onboard ships and issuing the relevant certificates.
* Carrying out shipboard management audits according to ISM requirements and issuing the necessary certificate.
* Inspection and certification of materials and components.
