The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to support the Ogun State government’s efforts to increase the participation of the private sector in the State’s economy with focus on improving the business-enabling environment, strengthening agri-food value-chains and upgrading skills.
Ogun State cannot achieve the economic transformation via diversification it seeks without addressing the critical binding constraints associated with the poor business-enabling environment, strengthening its agri-food value chain linkages and upgrading the skills of its citizens. The Project aligns with the Ogun State Development Plan and will:
(i) finance activities to improve the overall business-enabling environment and make the State more attractive to the private sector;
(ii) strengthen agri-food value chains through increased linkages of farmers to markets; and (iii)
(iii) support the upgrading and relevance of skills development in the State. To ensure the effective implementation of the above activities and build the basis for longer term development planning and monitoring, the project will also support procurement efficiency and the strengthening of the State’s statistical and M&E capacities.
The project also aligns with the State’s goal to improve the resilience of economic activities to the adverse effects of climate change and to follow a more climate-friendly economic development path
