Founded in 1858, the brand Vulcain from Le Locle became world-famous with the first functioning alarm complication, "Cricket", and corresponding watches, which have adorned the wrists of every US president since Harry S. Truman. In addition, Vulcain watches were worn for the first ascent of K2 in 1954 and during Swiss diver Hannes Keller's record-breaking dive in the sixties. Vulcain manufactures its movements itself, developing and modernizing them over the years. The product range encompasses five different calibers. The company is therefore justified in referring to itself as a 'design studio'.
