The Science and Technology Park for Tourism and Leisure (PCT de Turismo y Ocio) was founded in 2006 by Rovira i Virgili University, the Vila-seca town council and the Province of Tarragona Hospitality and Tourism Business Federation (FEHT).
The PCT's mission is to become an international hub for the tourism knowledge economy, generating an ideal environment for investment in tourism RDI and providing the knowledge the tourism sector needs to ensure its sustainable develop at both the local and wider regional scales.
The PCT facilities are home to the following RDI units: the Consortium for Increasing Competitiveness in Tourism and Leisure in the Counties of Tarragona (MCTUR Consortium); the Costa Daurada Foundation for Tourism Studies -which, since 2001, has operated the Costa Daurada Tourism Observatory-; and the PCT's own Transfer Unit (TU).
The PCT moreover has office areas to house innovative business groups (IBGs), organisations and companies from the tourism sector.
