The Supreme Court is the highest court in Victoria. It deals with the state’s most serious criminal and civil cases.
While most cases are heard in Melbourne, the Supreme Court is a ‘court for all Victorians’ and hears matters in their region of origin where possible.
The Court’s Trial Division administers and hears cases. If a party has cause to appeal a decision handed down from the Trial Division they can seek to do so in the Court of Appeal.
Our judiciary is made up the Chief Justice, the President of the Court of Appeal, judges, associate judges and judicial registrars.
